| A Michigan teen is optimistic about his chances in court after being charged with brandishing a firearm, disorderly conduct and obstructing an officer. Eighteen-year-old Sean Combs (not 'Puffy') was arrested last April by police because he was walking around town with a rifle slung over his shoulder. He'd just received his M1 Garand for his birthday and he was showing the gun to several other teenagers. Cops showed up on the scene and asked to see his ID. Combs declined, but after a few more police showed up Combs decided to give in. The police moved to arrest him the... |

| LANSING, MI Gun rights activists from throughout Michigan gathered at the Capitol on Saturday to promote easing restrictions on carrying firearms. The group wants Michigan to become a constitutional carry state, where concealed weapon licenses are not required and there generally arent restrictions on how or where guns are carried. Vermont, Alaska, Arizona and Wyoming have similar laws. What we are trying to accomplish by this rally and future and ongoing efforts, is having our Second Amendment rights restored back to their original intent as laid out in our Constitution by our Founding Fathers, said John Roshek, president of... |

| As Michigan lawmakers enter debate about the future of concealed carry laws, organizers are rallying to promote Constitutional Carry. Right now, Michigan has a whole range of locations where concealed handguns are off limits -- places like schools, churches and sports stadium. The lawmakers are thinking that as long as permit holders undergo extra training, then gun owners should be allowed to carry in these areas. Gun rights advocates are happy with the way things are going -- mostly. They believe that this new legislation is on the right track, it just doesn't go nearly far enough. They want to... |

| After edging out Rockefeller 51% to 49% in the winner-take-all race in California, Goldwater had a huge majority of delegates, enough to easily win the nomination at the Republican convention. George Romney set about denouncing Goldwater, and even raised a stink at the convention to have Goldwaterâ²s delegates disqualified. Romney was accusing many of Goldwaterâ²s delegates as being everything from racists, members of the Ku-Klux-Klan, the John Birch Society and even accused some of being Communists! Imagine that! Once Goldwater was named the presidential nominee, George Romney still worked to undermine his campaign, refusing to endorse or support him. So... |

| A poll that found Michigan voters oppose allowing concealed handguns in schools and other places where they are now banned is suspicious, said the spokesman for a lawmaker pushing the change. In poll after poll, Michiganders strongly support the rights of law-abiding gun owners to protect themselves wherever they have a legal right to be, said Ryan Mitchell, communication director for state Sen. Mike Green, R-Mayville. This particular survey was bought and paid for by a radical gun-control group and so its results are suspicious. But the pollster who conducted the survey defended the findings and said Greens efforts run... |

| Concealed weapons should be allowed on campus. There, I said it. After years of believing weapons should not be allowed on university property, I have flipped my position. I can no longer find a valid reason as to why law-abiding citizens who attend and work at Eastern Michigan University or any university campus should be left defenseless. Last week, the group Students for Concealed Carry protested the ban on carrying concealed weapons on campus. It coincided with a bill passed in the Michigan Senate that will lift the ban and allow citizens to legally carry concealed weapons at universities. Last... |

Jones who is on his fourth trip to Dearborn to preach about the dangers of Islam and its agenda of imposing Sharia law on America also called for a... |

| JACKSON Jackson County may soon become the first government body in Michigan, as far as it knows, to let employees to carry concealed pistols at work. A revised policy on workplace violence would essentially end a work rule against guns by allowing employees and contractors to carry pistols on county property if they have a license to carry a concealed weapon. Despite disagreement from county department heads, many commissioners appear to believe they should not interfere with employees' rights to carry guns if properly licensed. "I think its a constitutional right," said Commissioner David Elwell, chief of the Columbia... |

It would also allow non-residents to purchase rifles and shotguns in Michigan. At the moment, SB 984 has been referred to the state Senate Committee on Outdoor Recreation and Tourism. Originally, the federal Gun Control Act banned interstate sales of firearms but contained an exception for long gun transactions occurring between federally licensed dealers (FFLs) and residents of contiguous states. Moreover, such sales could... |

| [BIG SNIP] Republicans new rules discouraging (though not entirely banning) winner-take-all delegate allocation in pre-April 1 contests have prevented anyone from getting close to the 1,144 delegate majority yet and prevent anyone from getting there at least until May. But Republican voters, by choosing Mitt Romney, can shut the process down. Romney wins in either Alabama or Mississippior, in what everyone a few days thought was impossible, bothcould effectively eliminate Gingrich from voters consideration and could make Rick Santorums path forward seem so unforbidding that even this determined and indefatigable candidate could find it hard to go on.
